Information from Venn: Alumni Cantabrigienses and list of PRO wills. He inherited the property of his uncle Jonathan Goddard: Essay by W.S.C.Copemen in history of the Royal Society ends: "As he died unmarried and left "noe will, his curious library of books, well and richly bound", which he intended for the Royal Society, passed with an iron chest containing 1000 guineas and 300 braod pieces, to his heir-at-law, his sister's son, who was a scholar at Caius College, Cambridge." Marriage settlement referred to in will is dated 15 Oct 1690. Marriage from IGI ref 6902852 fiche 1 Computer printout of London, St. Augustine Watling Street, Lond., Eng . Will mentions children Stephen and Honora "they being of unhealthy constitutions". Also other unnamed children - male and female. His burial entry in St Luke's Chelsea Parish Register says "John Richards Dr of Physick" The confusion with General John Richards (son of Jacob Richards) goes back to the pedigree on Page 52 in Betham's will abstracts vol 8 which date from 1829. Betham who had access to Col Solomon's will does not mention the tradition that he was disinherited by his father.
