Though I have received of the state 185l to conduct my company to shipping I could give no account of it. I durst not come near my men till my peace was procured and they on board. I cannot stir hence till money comes, I am like to be devided among brewers, bakers and cheesemongers yet I hope to be at Milford ten days before any party of men can reach it. Betham's sketch pedigree dated about 1829 gives his wife as Sibella Kavanagh, daughter of Bryan Kavanagh of Borris Co Carlow. Bryan did have two daughters but neither were called Sibella. I don't kniow where Betham got this from but I'm sure it was one of several mistakes Hore History of the town and county of Wexford Page 588: He was a Colonel in Cromwell's armies and in charge of the recruits for the Irish service, which he brought over to Ireland from Milford in 1649.
