Daughter's marriage announcement says he was of the 33rd reg and a Brevet Major. Of Belmont Nr Cork. Year of birth is a guesstimate. The army list of 1821 lists him in the 32d (Cornwall) Regiment of Foot as the senior lieutenant promoted on 10 Nov 1807. He seems to have married first Martha le Marchant, daughter of Mr Charles le Marchant - according to the Lukis manuscript in the Priaulx library. He was wounded at Quatre Bras (the prelude to Waterloo)

The Macdonald website says that she was from Boisdale. In 1871 living with her daughter in Bedford at 58 Midland Road, aged 80, "Officer's widow" born in Scotland Also Isabella C Cadell W 82 - aunt of Margaret Isabella Richards. These ages seem a bit unlikely given that Margaret Isabella was 32 in 1871
