Extract from the will of Thomas Rees of Bishop's Court in the parish of Laugharne in the County of Carmarthen. To Thomas Rees, my son, The House and Garden...called Fynnon Cyff or Three Bells...in the town of St Clears and also two fields two fields in the parish of St Clear.. ..Thomas Rees is to pay ten pounds a year to Esther Rees his mother,...but if she remarries she is to have five pounds only.. ..also he is to pay three pounds annually to daughter Esther Rees during the term of her life... These annuities end with the death of the annuitant and the property then belongs to Thomas Rees without any incumbrances. ..to Mary my daughter the wife of John Llewellyn, farmer the house now in the occupation of Ann Evans in the town of St Clears as her sole property... All the live and dead stock, crop and household furniture of the farmhouse called Bishop's Court in the parish of Laugharne and also the same of the farm called Grove in Llanginin..... to be devided equally between Esther Rees my wife, Thomas Rees my son, Mary my daughter now wife of John Llewellyn and Esther Rees my daughter. Five shillings to Lewis Rees my son if demanded, five shillings to John Rees my son, Margaret my daughter now wife of Thomas Griffith and Rachel my daughter now wife of John Barrett. Esther Rees my wife and Thomas Rees my son to be executors... 16 March 1824 Witnesses: James Philipps Bethlehem, John Eaton, David Reynold (mark). Thomas Rees made his mark. Probate to Thomas Rees on 13 August 1824. Personal property less than £300. David Prothero, surrogate. In the 1798 Land Tax Register he is occupying land assessed at £2-5-5 and £1-0-8 from Lord Viscount Howarden. His death notice says he had been a member of Henllan and Bethlehem churches for 63 years and in that period was only absent from Communion on one occasion through sickness..
