William was a Captain in the 30th Regiment. He retired Dec 23 1870. He was also JP and High Sheriff (1902) before leaving Ireland to go to Canada. In Canada, he is listed in 1873 as the Deputy Registrar at the offices of the Surrogate Court in Toronto at 51 Adelaide St E. The Registrar was William Cayley. It seems that William married either the boss's daughter or sister! In 1873, he lived at 142 Beverley St in Toronto. The LDS records show children born M 1867, M 1869,M 1871,M 1873,F1875, F 1877, F 1879, F 1881 LDS records show a birthdate of 1841 Information from Ann Belanger and Burke ILG 1912.
